Report Back 3Rd Runway At Heathrow !

It was always going to be this outcome. I wonder how many £millions have been wasted getting to the obvious solution ?
Who the hell wants to go to Gatwick ?
Heathrow is a major hub airport. Who in their right minds would want to change planes in London, and have to travel 1, 2 or even 3 hours between airports ?

Aircraft end up having to hold and then the passengers miss their onward connections. That happens every day, even in good weather let alone bad. A bit of snow, or some gales and the flow rate has to be slowed down and then large percentages of short haul flights have to be cancelled because there aren`t enough hours in the day for everybody to be able to land.
gromit, o'hare airport has 8 runways, the most recent (10C-28C) opening in 2013. in terms of aircraft movements, (take-offs and landings) o'hare has just under double that of LRH (800,000 p/a compared to 450,000 p/a).
the reason o'hare has so many runways is because apart from runway 4R-22L, they all intersected (until traffic was separated in a re-organisation concurrent with the opening of 10C-28C)

I quite like the response from the landlady of the Longford pub who will have to sell up - "I`m pleased about it and if there`s any money to come, I`ll take it and run" There are quite a few people around there who feel like that because they can`t sell their properties with the uncertainty hanging over them. At least they will know one way or another.
It was nice to see dave squirming as PMQs today ! He has put his reputation on the line over Heathrow, as he said a few years ago ...."no ifs, not buts" and promised not to sanction expansion. But his Government commissioned this independent Report, which has come and said its Heathrow.
Wriggle out of that dave !
I also heard Boris waffling terribly on the Today Program this morning.
In reality, the Tory Party is going to be split down the middle on this issue.
So I am guessing that no Airport expansion will actually happen....a classic fudge if ever I saw one.

This is not about where the best place for an extra runway should go it`s once again turned political because Cameron cannot control his back benchers, think we all know it will be shelved until after London mayor election despite what they say,i say build one at Heathrow,Gatwick and Stanstead and be done.
