/// Labour veteran Sir Gerald Kaufman, the 85-year-old Father of the House said of English votes on English laws – known as EVEL – that ‘even the title of this motion sounds racist’. ///

I would have thought it sounded EVIL.

Why are the Scots so frigtened at not being able to vote on matters that are only applicable to England?

Perhaps we should let English MPs vote on Scottish, Welsh and Northern Ireland matters.

All in the quest of equality you understand?

“Lets just not bother with the rferendum and give them independence.” (sic).
Presumably, by ‘lets’ you mean ‘let us’, the ‘us’ being the English. Wherever did you get the absurd notion that Scottish independence is in the gift of the English…ie that they (you) have the power to ‘give’ it?
The SNP didn't get their way in the independence referendum.

So, ignoring the fact that the Scottish population have expressed their will, the SNP want ANOTHER vote.

Are they suggesting that the Scottish people are stupid?

That they "got it wrong"?

Or do the SNP simply not care about the will of the Scottish people? "WE ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU VOTE, AND VOTE AGAIN, AND VOTE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE GET OUR WAY, YOU STUPID IGNORANT PEOPLE !!!"

("We will thcream and thcream until we are sick")

The Scottish people have already spoken. The SNP refuse to accept the voice of the people. Throughout history, that scenario has never worked out well.

Don't feel guilty. I believe some Jews voted for you know who.
//Presumably, by ‘lets’ you mean ‘let us’, the ‘us’ being the English. //

Your words - not mine.

The Scottish are asking for independence I'm simply suggesting we (the whole UK not just England) agree to part company.

Why are you getting bitter about the English 'granting' it - Surely it is the UK that needs to agree, of which England is only one part?
NJ, you claim that “All of those other areas are not continually harping on about how hard done by” they are. Surely it was because they DID complain that Manchester, Liverpool, Yorkshire, Lancashire and Tyneside were all assured by Osborne that he planned to transform them into a "Northern Powerhouse" by dramatic transport improvements and so forth. Why did he bother if not to attract votes?
I can’t be bothered to research individual northern constituency voting patterns, but if anyone up there WAS conned into believing the ridiculous hype, I imagine they’ll be less impressed now that the whole thing has degenerated into rodent faeces after mere weeks of Tory rule!

""WE ARE GOING TO MAKE YOU VOTE, AND VOTE AGAIN, AND VOTE AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN UNTIL WE GET OUR WAY, YOU STUPID IGNORANT PEOPLE !!!""

now where else have i seen that applied ...oh yeah the eussr
// Yes. Also look at Inner London, Manchester, Liverpool, much of the central part of Yorkshire and Lancashire, Tyneside. All are "saddled" with a Tory government every time one is elected in the same way as Scotland is. //

Worse than that NJ, everywhere else is saddled with a Labour govt every time one of those gets elected, thanks largely to Scotland. Not any more though eh?

I agree with janbee. At the next independence referendum, the SNP should lobby to include the whole country if they've got any sense. It would guarantee victory for them.
One small problemo with that Ludwig....it wouldn't be the SNP's choice.

I am Scottish and Nicola Sturgeon does not represent what I wish I voted tory at last election and I voted no in the independence referendum she is a dangerous manipulative woman who is going to ruin Scotland all she wants is power and division
// One small problemo with that Ludwig....it wouldn't be the SNP's choice //

Yeah I know. Shame though eh?
Yep.
Let her have another referendum and for Gods sake let them keep the place. I'm fed up with all this 'we don't want to be governed from London' ***. Some politicians will never change, Alex Salmond will always be belligerent and Gerald Kaufman will always be acidic.
