It's wrong to say they forgot about her, but crazy of the parents to leave a baby floating on her own in an inflatable.
Thankfully, no harm came to her and I'm sure they won't be so stupid again.

Sounds more like a freak accident than neglect. They momentarily looked away and she was gone. Fortunately we have an happy ending.

Children have got swept out to see here in dingys and inflatables. We do not take them into care and prosecute the parents. As in the Turkish case, there is relief and thanks that the incident did not have a tragic end.

So in answer to the question, no we do jot takes things too seriously, and to the i plied question, no the Turkish authorities do not take it too lightly either.

You don't think it was an accident? What are you insinuating, that the family launched the child deliberately? Why would they do that?

Gromit...I am not sure anybody is suggesting that this act was deliberate.

Its almost certainly an accident, but an entirely avoidable accident, as it would seem to have been caused by the parents carelessness.
