Either the Met are getting soft or they are too politically constrained nowadays.
In light of recent events in Tunisia and the 7/7 bombings I would of thought at least the old common law standby "Behaviour likely to cause a breach of the peace" would of sufficed.
This lack of action IMO is giving tacit approval and legitimacy to this IS rag.

I am about to repeat myself (seems to be a trend today) because I cannot recall which thread I originally posted this reply on.

This man has got what he wanted - the press/media and yes us (me included) have given him the publicity and airtime he wanted.

To have ignored would have been the better course of action ,unless it had escalated into an offence that required intervention.

As i said in a similar thread yesterday, this individual would have been quickly whisked off the streets by our cops and taken away for an "interview". I've seen guys taken away for a chat for waltzing around town wearing Satan's Choice or Hell's Angels colours.

I reckon something would have happened if the coward hadn't used his daughter as a human shield. He would definitely have been horizontal within 1 minute around these parts. But then we're not very PC or 'enlightened'.

It's not clear whether he put the flag away after being spoken to, thereby avoiding a breach of the peace.

Displaying that flag in the UK should certainly not be tolerated.

If an innocent tourist was taking photos of Big Ben the police would have come no where near them. The fact that the police officers stopped and spoke to this person and then consulted with others as to what action to take must indicate that they were not happy with this mans actions and probably told him to depart the scene rather than arrest him.I would suggest that the likelihood of a breach had crossed their minds but where told to back off due to political expediency which I believe is the incorrect action to take.We are showing that IS supporters can brazenly advertise their allegiance to this filthy murderous cult.
