Several weeks ago I dared to suggest that a cinema somewhere in the Middle East which was being used to show films of executions, should have been bombed, but I was lambasted because there were also children in the audience of that building.

Well I make no apology to all those that said "they are only children" perhaps this little monster was also being radicalised in that cinema.

Former 'boy soldiers' who killed in West Africa are being reeducated. How successful it will be remains to be seen.

Naomi, you have to take the naivety into consideration!

I don't think you could really call IS naiive - do you?
andy-hughes I see your point exactly - you have made it very clearly and shown your intelligence and humanity (No, I'm not being sarky, sometimes you have to say that on this site.)

May I continue the analogy posed by retrocop? This person comes up to you waving a rifle and threatening your children; by some miracle you threaten and distract him and he sets off to shoot some other, defenceless children further on down the beach. What then?

It is pitiable; what has happened to this boy is depraved, but he must not be allowed to slaughter others, especially innocent children.

The age of criminal responsibility was (not all that long ago) 9 years old in the UK. The acceptability of that is definitely debateable, but it held for many years. This child has been so damaged and corrupted that he is a terrible danger. The guilt for that lies with others - but he cannot be so far from hearing other views (modern media) that he knows his teachings to have been unacceptable and generally considered wrong.

If you have a favourite dog who is bitten and becomes rabid - you have to shoot it. (There was a film about that called 'Old Yellow' or something like that.) Otherwise rabies will spread.

In sorrow, I say that I would advise that he be targeted and killed before he can breed.

Previous discussions have taught me that, and I am patient - but at times it becomes wearing.

//I was just taking this particular disarranged monster as an example of the savagery of these people, young, old, male and female.//

You are extrapolating from the acts of one, deranged (or "programmed") individual into making generalisations like "savagery of these people".

By "these people" are you SPECIFICALLY referring to IS members or trying to paint all people from that part of the world in that way?

You may well treat these groups separately. However, some of your readership may regard them as an amorphous lump - eg British kids in the schoolyard who (reportedly) use "terrorist" as an occasional taunt to any kids who happen to look a bit Asian, Arabic, African or Malaysian.

We had that "tarring with the same brush" thread. If I can relocate it, maybe I should link this tread to is as an example?
Since a likely-irresponsible child, carrying a weapon which appears to be real, not a toy, is probably the scariest thing I can think of, at the moment, I would probably shoot first. If I hesitated for more than a split second, I would go for the arms or legs, to incapacitate, rather than kill.

Having said that, if this scenario was being played out in a middle-east setting, any attempt to shoot first would be somewhat futile, seeing as how it would set off a fusillade from every other armed person within earshot of the incident.

/// He is still a child - a manipulated, damaged, unhappy, tragic, child. ///

Would you still think like that, if you were the one with his gun to your head?

Are the age of dogs taken into consideration when they attack and sometime kill humans?

No they are just put down.

If the boy could be brought to the UK and placed for adoption with loving parents he might be able to put the nightmare he's been living behind him.

AH ///I don't think you could really call IS naiive - do you?///

Er, I didn't, as I'm sure you know!

Didn't you?

I must have misunderstood then, sorry about that!

That is academic, because like everyone else posting on here, I sit in a warm building with a democracy around me, so I am unlikely ever to know - but as I have opined before, I would not be taking the detached attitude I am able to enjoy in debate on here, no-one would!

"Are the age of dogs taken into consideration when they attack and sometime kill humans?

No, but they are dogs, and this is a child, and I do not believe that you equate the two in terms of the morality of killing one against the other, that would be far to simplistic for a man who I know thinks and feels deeper than that.

whilst you are here could you do me the courtesy of pointing out the thread where I suggested a nuclear bomb should be implemented ? TIA

No of course not, it just happens that this one was reported on, and is the subject of this debate, but if you want more examples, then feel free.

Of course I am specifically referring to IS members, have I said it is the rest of the people from that part of the world, or are you just trying to take the opportunity to accuse me of being a racist, anti Muslim, Islamaphobia, Xenophobia, Bigotry etc? (feel free to carry on)

Retrocop - I mixed up your post with Retrochic's - my apologies for the confusion.

Are you just trying to play 'the devil's advocate' here, or are you being serious, In which case would you be one to take him in?

Do you notice that all our guests who sojourn to Syria like our 3 Bethnal Green cherubs are always described as English so I have no doubt that their father would welcome with open arms this monsterous automaton into his house in Londanistan.
