It is this type of thing that makes one wonder why some crimes are treated differently by the media and why are they?

As it is, journalists just hope they're not crossing the line when they report the truth.

Svejk,

Did you read your own link. The newspaper in question is owned by its employees. It is not run by Lords who represent a political party. It effectively fired a Labour politician.
// journalists just hope they're not crossing the line when they report the truth. //
Brian Wilson was not a journalist, he wrote a column in the newspaper. He is or was a politician in Tony Blair's cabinet. If anything, discontinuing his column makes the publication less influenced by politicians and a Labour agenda.

None of the gay bashing along Canal St Manchester gets much time
Presumably because it is gay related, along Canal St ( lots of gays there ) and oop t' North ( no sheep )
Local passtime is to knock someone unconscious ( doesnt matter if they are gay ) and tip them over into the canal where they drown
The local gangster and mayoral hopeful who was gunned down in a Bonny and Clyde Ambush about 6 mi outside the city DID get a lot of air time.
looked OK, no tinge of make up, liked small furry animals, drugs related
had a family
( I mean where will it all end ? looks quizzical )

Peter Pedant makes a very good point there. If you look through the gay press over the past year, you will see many incidents of trans and gay assaults that do not make the national press.
Unless there is a 'hook' to the story, then many, many assaults will go unreported.
And remember, it really can't be anything to do with our press being 'liberal leaning'. Look at newspaper circulation figures:
http:// www.the guardia n.com/m edia/ta ble/201 4/jul/1 1/abcs- nationa l-newsp apers
There is plenty of representation from the right (The Sun, The Daily Mail, The Express, The Daily Telegraph, The Times) - totalling 5,200,814 readers, compared to the left leaning publications (The Mirror, The Independent, The Guardian) - which combined has 1,512,507 readers.
I've left out the Daily Record (have no idea what that paper stands for) and the Daily Star (I know what that paper stands for, and there's usually two of them, with nipples).
