I can assure you AOG that there are many arriving every day. We presume it's because of housing benefit changes doon sooth driving people out of that Utopia that is the south of England to look for more affordable dwellings.

Obviously the Guardian didn't think it racist, or they would not have printed it. Not all the comments think it is racist, the highest rated answer with 160 likes, seems to sum it correctly. People of all skin colours, nationalities, can be racist, and brown people are no exception.
I have done the game of changing all references of white people and replacing them with the word black, and you still do not get a racist article. It is possible to criticise someone of a different colour without being racist. I disagree with this article, not because it is racist (it isn't), but because I do not with the conclusion she has come to. There will ve some white people who leave an area because they no longer like the current complexion of the community, but they will be a very small minority of the leavers. The vast majority leaving will be those who have become more wealthy through age, and want to leave a poor area for a nicer place.

The point of the question is that the same article written from a white person's point of view and basically saying 'thank gawd I don't have to live in a place where I'm surrounded by only black people', would be quite rightly stomped on for being racist, rather than being viewed as a celebration of cultural diversity.

People are deliberately misreading the article because they are the target of it. Their defence seems to be she is black and I am white so her motivation in writing the article must be a racist one. It isn't.

I may have advised people who get upset by reading its contents, that they should stop reading it, to stop them getting upset. That is not to say people shouldn't read it.
It is best to read more than one source of a news item, especially if the source is a newspaper which are not required to be unbiased or impartial.
