Interesting position from the environment minister in Zim - am open to correction but was under the impression that the majority of Mugabe's government operated outside the law which is why they are so incredibly wealthy. Maybe I'm wrong though.

Sorry didn't answer the OP's question. I think he should be extradited providing the same amount of resources are given to others who have done the same thing. Cecil is a very high profile and cruel case but there are thousands of other animals treated the same way - some worse. I suppose it's a difficult situation given that Cecil was a high profile victim and all the others weren't - don't know the solution I'm afraid but if the dentist can be proven to have been in cahoots with the Bushman Safaris chappie then he deserves to be punished. Bad luck for him he got caught out but tough, that's life - lots of people get away with speeding, illegal parking, smuggling even and others get caught. Way of the world.

Whether we like it or not it is legal to pay to shoot lions and other big game in Zib in certain, strict circumstances. That is how most safari parks and game reserves make their money.

This man claims he believed it was a legal shoot. Let him be extradited to prove it.

You can be prosecuted for illegally killing any animal. You cannot be prosecuted for 'murdering' an animal. This 'get the dentist' has gone totally OTT. What he did was cruel and unforgivable and I'm not condoning it in any shape or form, but it happens on a daily basis all over the world. Just go on some peoples FB pages (funnily enough quite a few Canadian) and see the proud pics of then hugging dead animals they have slaughtered.

As the PH is likely to get a $400.00 fine and the owner of the concession won't be prosecuted as he is giving state evidence the government obviously just want an American to make an example of. I despise all hunting of wildlife I will never understand what pleasure someone can get from shooting an animal. The govt of zimbabwe are the biggest hypocrites. They allow the Chinese to put cyanide in the water holes in Hwange and Mana killing hundreds of elephants at a time also other animals that come to drink at the waterholes plus the scavengers that feed on the dead animals. They take baby elephants from the herds and send them to live in Chinese zoos. Hopefully the death of Cecil will highlight the abuse and exploitation of wildlife in Africa. I think the dentist will rue the day he shot Cecil. He is such a great shot and hunter he didn't even kill the lion the PH had to do that.

I read that the dentist had paid a large sum of money two years ago to make an out of court settlement in a sexual harrassment case. He obviously feels his money entitles him to do as he pleases.
