If the conditions in the countries that these people are coming from isn't addressed and improved, they will continue to arrive in Europe, for ever more.
It isn't just Calais that has a problem. These people are travelling all over Europe. Not all of them are trying to get into Britain, although you would never guess that from what is being said in our Media. Some of them have been re-settled in other European countries, Germany and Sweden amongst others.
Its a European problem and we have the ideal mechanism in the European Parliament to deal with it. Everybody needs to get off their behinds and find a long-term solution.
We were celebrating the life of Nicholas Winton recently. He was responsible for rescuing nearly 10,000, mainly Jewish children from the gas chambers of Nazi Germany. He had great difficulty is persuading countries to take these children in, especially America. If he was alive today and he was trying to rescue children from war-ravaged parts of the world, its unlikely that he would ever have got the modern version of Kindertransport off the ground in the first place.

Really R-cop ? Muslim children as well as non-Muslim children, are dying in their 10,000's all over the war zones of North Africa, and beyond.
Its my contention that if a modern day Winton were to try to rescue some of these completely innocent kids, his mission would fail utterly.
Actually, the kindertransport nearly didn't succeed due to the innate racism of Britain and America at the time. It was only due to Winton's perseverance that he managed to rescue the 669 he did.

Mikey; It's just plain daft to try to make comparison with Jews fleeing persecution in Nazi Germany and these 99% (my figure) illegal economic migrants.
I've said it before but left to itself, there is no natural limit to immigration.
Listen to Nigel, he seems to be the only one telling it how it is.

^^ Because as I just pointed out in your other post. There is no recognized government in Libya . It is run by a bunch of war lords who make a lot of money by smuggling people to Europe. They will not allow any boat to land and return 'passengers' . They would almost certainly open fire on any EU vessels trying to land 'passengers'. They may not have a government but they have a lot of weapons including field guns and rockets.

I agree. The point I am submitting is that Jewish parents placed their children on kindertransport to ensure they would escape the Nazi regime and not be rounded up and put into camps. The parents stayed having payed large amounts to ensure the safety of their children. The parents were not piling on the kindertransport themselves in order to better their lives in another country. Kindertransport means transport for children, mikey, not for economic immigrant adult chancers who fancy coming to Britain because they want to be famous football players. Yes there are children coming across the channel but the majority are young single men from countries unaffected by strife or war. A totally ridiculous comparison to make with a bucket load of emotional blurring.

Paul Carter, leader of of Kent Council, said that the "massive logistical exercise"of supporting those under 18 who make it to the UK was putting an enormous strain on children's social services.
Daily Mail Friday 31st July 2015.
Apparently he was quoted as saying young immigrant children were dumped on children's social service.
I may be mistaken for believing that children could be used as a convenient aid to pull the heartstrings of the naive and gullible and then dumped once entry to the UK was achieved.
Nothing like the kindertransport analogy,
A good few months ago the naive were also telling us that the infrastructure of the UK was not being overwhelmed and we have plenty of room for many more immigrants. We have loads of space etc etc.
It didn't take long under this present Calais immigrant fiasco to swamp and overwhelm the Kent children's social services which would suggest they were near breaking point as well as other services that some deny were struggling to cope.
