Breaking News....Edward Heath was NOT investigated for possible child abuse"
In an astonishing statement today Wiltshire police said "Sir Edward Heath was definitely not investigated in relation to offences concerning children. We can confirm that we have investigated allegations against every politician and celebrity who was an adult between 1851 and 2014 and can confirm that Sir Edward was one of only a handful whom we had no suspicions about whatsoever."
Sir Edward’s family reacted with understandable fury and made a statement through their solicitor:
"This is an outrageous slur made against one of the finest politicians the country has ever known, who led the nation through the grim years of the 1970s when the very fabric of society was threatened by the dark forces of communism and the National Union of Mineworkers.
Why the Wiltshire constabulary should pick on our father (check this - ed.) in this scurrilous fashion is beyond belief. We call on the present government to urgently (after they have returned from their summer break) instigate a judge-led public enquiry into the workings of the Wiltshire Constabulary and its Chief Constable. We look forward to reading the enquiry’s report as soon as 2039 and feel confident that these disgusting allegations will be firmly laid to rest.”

Hmm, once again looks like trial by media and a fishing trip by Plod.
Basically they have nothing but are calling on all nutters to come forward so they have plenty to do and get a self righteous feeling.
Dont get me wrong, i am against anyone who carries out vile acts against children, but I really dislike this lazy form of Policing that slurs everyone without evidence.

ymb, the claim (as usual) is that allegations were made at the time but not investigated. All they can do now is ask for anyone else to come forward with evidence.
As in other cases, the problem is that the police seem to have spent years not doing their job and there's now a massive backlog to sort out.
Maybe there were allegations against Heath. Maybe they were justified. If they'd been looked at when they were made, we wouldn't be having this trouble now. But there's no point in criticising police actions now, when they've finally woken up.
