11 Years For Stabbing His Teacher!

A couple of weeks ago former banker Tom Hayes was sentenced to 14 years in prison for conspiracy to defraud, yet a 14 year old racist Bradford teenager, with previous convictions, gets 11 years for stabbing his teacher in the classroom, it is likely he'll only serve 3 years if he behaves himself! What is wrong with our judiciary, the 'boy' should've been banged up for life, serving at least 20 years before being allowed to apply for parole!

This is where I say ta-ra to my leftie polictically correct self......this person is feral. The chances of his rehabilitation are slim, as the environment he will return to will reinforce his present way of life. Now, if you had an out of control animal that attacked people despite attempts to control and restrain, you'd erm.....deal with it. Humanely....

I dunno .... one of the them 'didnt mean to'
eleven y for attacking latin master seems a bit excessive

( OK the facts may be different. IF you said: it is called Euthanasia sir as you did the evil deed, do think they Classics master would say: " My boy, I forgive you ! your Greek will carry you far .... " )

both sentences struck me as quite strict
Ho long did Chindamo who stabbed Philip Lawrence the headmaster serve ?
I don't think the two cases are comparable.

One was a minor, and the other manipulated an unbelievable amount of money.

///One was a minor///

The age of Criminal Responsibility is 10 in the UK as far as I know!
Baldric

/// Seems to have had a racist element as well ///

Already been mentioned by the OP.

Good job the teenager was an Asian or he would might have got a much stiffer sentence.

/// Judge Durham Hall accepted that the attack was racially motivated and that the boy - from a Pakistani background - could not handle being disciplined by a black man. ///
How many times do I have to point out that judges DO NOT have the power to sentence to any time that they see fit. They can ONLY sentence within the official guidelines that are set out for each offence.
A child ( anyone under 16)can not be sentenced to the same time an adult would get for the same offence. Ah adult would have got 'life'
A minor in law is anyone under the age of 18.
I think you can drive yourself demented trying to compare one rime and the resulting punishment to another. Each case is different.

Is this sufficient for the severity of the crime? No,I don't think it is based on the little I have read.
^ compare one crime
The sentencing laws are made by rich people, who always regard the theft of money or property as far more heinous than crimes of violence against poor people.
Under 18 is a minor, under 16 is a child in law.
I think that 11 years is a fair sentence.

And I agree with Mamyalynne here - you can easily do yourself a mischief comparing sentencing guidelines on one crime to another.

Imprisoning costs and good people are relying on food banks.
I know it's not a nice analysis on my part. When released (if he makes it to release) I expect he will offend again quite quickly and this time someone may die as a result.
Not sure St P why you are conflating the two offences, as they have nothing whatsoever in common.

I think 11 years is about right for a 14 year old boy.
I was a supply teacher in Bradford and Halifax for many years. I have faced teenagers who threatened me. The most frightening was a 15 year-old girl who swayed in front of me, high on glue, with open scissors in her hand which she jabbed at me. It's a tough job.

This teacher was obviously facing a very difficult group (only 8 pupils) and I can't understand why he didn't seem to have a teaching assistant in support - I am happy to be corrected if there was one in attendance.

Many pupils break all the rules with their mobile phones, I've wasted much valuable teaching time getting them to turn them off (parents complain if you take them off them) and yet it is essential for sense and order in class. Teachers have to uphold the rules. Clash point!

Just to add that in Bradford the Asian Pakistani population generally hates black people. Most of them (Carribean descent) have moved to Huddersfield, where they have amalgamated in a specific area.

I very much hope that in 11 years the system will enable this 'boy' (old enough to be married under Shariah law) to re-think his views. My admiration goes to the victim and his act of forgiveness.
The parents of this boy should be charged, If only for his upkeep, if the social services can not come up with a criminal charge.
A ridiculously low sentence. Clearly racially motivated this piece of scum will be out doing it again pretty much without doubt.

Maybe it is not the judiciary fault but the law needs changing if it is not.
Mosiac I take it you would impose a death penalty on a 14 year old child!
That makes you no better than he is!

AOG @ 1516,
Oh Dear, I missed one word in the OP.
More often than not I agree with your posts, but to be honest this type of nit-picking on your part is going to have me looking very closely at what you put online for a day or three, just for the hell of it of course!
