The British don't sound too sympathetic in the replies.

Lucky it wasn't in the Mail. ;o)
Everybody gets the blues from time to time.
/// During the second world war, several hundred thousand Poles fought in the British army; my own father was one of them. A significant number of RAF pilots in the Battle of Britain were Polish. ///

I get a little weary of various nationalities always going on about what their countries did for Britain during WW2.

Yes granted without their support we would have most likely have lost the war, but it was a World war and they fought for the freedom of their own countries just as much as they did for ours.

Since Britain was the only European country free from the jackboot of the Nazis, is it not obvious that they would base themselves here and fight, until such times that they could once again see their country free?

After all because Hitler refused to withdraw his troops from Poland was what made us declare war on Germany.
I wasn't aware that the Poles receive such a bad press.

As long as the Bangladeshis don't down their pots and pans at the weekend in sympathy, I think we'll be fine.

Of course you do, it goes right against the grain of your rampant xenophobia.
Usual rot from Canary.
My earliest school-friend is half-Polish, she remains close. Another close friend's father was a Polish airman who fought on our side in WW2. I was at Uni., and friends with, 2 Polish girls who had to speak Polish at home for their fathers. Eventually I learnt a few words of Polish from a neighbour with whose son my daughter played.

The Poles constituted one of the waves of immigrants which we received in the Bradford area. They never gave any trouble, learned English and were assimilated. Of course they held onto their culture. There were Saturday-morning schools when the children would learn traditional rhymes etc..

I find nothing at all wrong with that, they caused scarcely a ripple and added to the local culture.

I do not now live in an area which is finding problems, but yet again it seems that is a question of numbers. Too many at the same time in one place. It is a result of uncontrolled immigration. The solution is obvious i.m.o. - leave the E.U..
It's about time the Lithiuanians start protesting. There's an exit door called 'go home' for any nation protesting too much.
