I do agree it isn't a punishment. It's doing what one can to protect someone potentially doing themselves harm. If the young lady had no intention of doing something stupid I can understand she would see it as an infringement of her personal rights, but hope she'll understand society has to find a balance between personal rights and society's responsibilities to each citizen.

Maybe she should consider taking her father along to the lessons, perhaps then in the future it would save the British tax payer paying for the services of an interpreter for him?
