National Lottery !
Just two questions :::
1...what on earth has Dale Winton done with his hair, and why ?
2...Where do they get such thick contestants from ?
( Glastonbury is in East Anglia ? For gods sake ! )

But thinking Glastonbury is in East Anglia? That's not thick, that's just not knowing everything. Off the top of my head, I'm not even sure which county it's in myself. Nor am I much bothered; I can always Google it. Don't overdo the sweeping judgments on people.

Gromit....being near Wales has nothing whatsoever to do with knowing that Glastonbury is in the West Country. I have never been to the pop festival and have no intention of attending. Glastonbury is mentioned in all the media every year, even when they have a "fallow" year. I recall its much discussed on here every year !
I agree with Dougie...not knowing what the word sage meant just shows a lack of a reasonable education. The black chap on there last night was pretty hopeless. Sassenachs are Welsh apparently ! Its hardly University Challenge is it !
Maybe you are right Eddie. It could be a ploy to make us laugh !
You know when its going downhill when someone starts telling Dale that "XXXXX is not my specialist subject " With some people, you wonder what is, apart from pop music and D list celebrity gossip.

In fairness, some facts that might seem like common knowledge can stump even those who think of them as fairly well-read.
I consider myself as having a fairly broad degree of general knowledge and couldn't answer the £100 question on an episode of 'Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' (Which football team plays at Stamford Bridge).
Sidebar - I have just realised that I also can't spell the word 'millionaire'. Had to rely on my spellchecker.

Does anyone know what the process is for appearing on the Lottery show ?
If you can apply, what criteria is used to thin people out of the, no doubt, thousands of enquiries.
Myself and 2 identical twin brothers, all working for BT, applied to form a team for an ITV Quiz, many years ago, called "Busman's Holiday"
We thought that the identical twin business might make us very "televisual", if you know what I mean ! We had to attend an audition at a hotel in Cardiff, when we were put through a screen test, using real quiz questions, delivered at high speed.
We had a letter about a month later, saying that we had done very well, but hadn't made it to the shortlist. But the interview/screen test was tough, with hard general knowledge questions, much harder than most you see these days, with no "celebrity gossip" questions.
