Un 'shocked' Over Clashes In Hungary
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/wo rld-eur ope-342 75400
Not surprising given the appalling scenes I saw on last nights news....firing CS gas and water cannon at children !
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon said such treatment of asylum seekers was "unacceptable". On the Today Program this morning, a representative for the UN said that Hungary had violated the Geneva Convention with its brutal treatment of these refugees.
Even Serbia, not a nation that has the proudest record when it comes to human rights agrees. "Serbian Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic accused Hungary of being "brutal and "non-European".
Contrast this brutal treatment, with the actions of the Croatian Government, which is treating these people with respect, not brutal oppression.

These are an illegal mob attempting to invade a country. They are lucky they are not shot. You alos seem to have missed the point the mob ripped down the fence and lobbed rocks at the Poice.
Are you seriously telling me you are happy letting such peoh Europe unchecked and with no idea of their identity?
There is a process for Asylum, these people seem to think they can circumvent it and do what the hell they like.
I like the Iraqi quoting his 'ooman rights. He'll fit right in then, not that I was aware it was a human right to be able to walk into any country you liked!!

No...they should have treated these people with the respect they deserve Talbot, or are you disputing what the UN says ? Firing CS gas at children is just not acceptable.
I will repeat what I have already said.....Hungary should be letting these people travel on to Germany and other countries that have already stated that they are happy to take them. That is what Croatia appears to be doing and what Greece and Serbia have already done. Herding them behind razor-wire fences and then spraying them with CS gas is not the way to proceed...that is what backward, undemocratic Governments do.
It was reported this morning that Hungary have taken a few minutes to reject some refugees request for asylum...how on earth can a proper process take such a incredibly short time, to decide what must be a complicated issue ?
Of course, Hungary have shown their true colours recently, by saying that they wouldn't mind taking in some refugees, as long as they were Christian.
Speaks volumes !

svejk, I am still laughing at the spinning jest. This was all so predictable. Those of us who voiced our fears of these very events, were howled down by the sirens from the echo chamber. It is tantamount to an invasion. What we will do when it is millions of Chinese who decide that Europe looks tasty god only knows.
