No, seriously.

I actually bought a copy of the Daily Star today to see what this was about.

The South Africans are blaming their defeat to Japan on seagulls disrupting their training.

Is there ANYTHING for which seagulls are not the easy scapegoats?

Either ... Japan were good.

Or ... South Africa were rubbish.

But, nooooo ... let's blame the seagulls!!

The seagulls would only have paid much attention to the South Africans if they were sitting on their training pitch eating fish and chips, and doughnuts.

or rather more accurately, attributed their defeat to the seagull ****, although the idea that it was the other way around would be even more intriguing!

They come from South Africa, where they have lions and things roaming around on the training pitch, and they are worried by a bit of seagull poop?
It was an excellent game, seagulls or not. Unless you're from SA of course.
A little birdie tells me that SA are talking rubbish....
