AOG - //andy-hughes
I was going to keep out of this one, until you came along with your usual utopian dreams.
/// as long as individuals accept that this is standard behaviour, and it is understood as 'the way things are ...' then nothing is going to change - either from the point of view of women who are offering themselves in unsavoury situations, or men who think that women's bodies can be purchased for a Rolex watch. ///
How do you Mr Hughes hope to change something that has been taking place from time immemorial, are you naive enough in believing that somewhere in the distant future a certain class of female is going to wake up and say "selling my body in exchange for cash and wonderful gifts has got to stop, I am going to get a job at TESCOs? //
My point was not to do with women who are working as prostitutes - that is an entirely different scenario, so no, I don't imagine that prostitution will die out anytime soon.
// And those filthy rich guys are going to say "hey it is all wrong, I am no longer going to use my wealth to buy me all that I wish for. //
Please see my previous response.
/// Thanks for the elucidation - I can now add 'racist' to 'misogynist' in recognition of the cavalier way you group people together into small sub-sections of humanity based on your deeply cynical view of the world. ///
You do so like to wheel out that racist cart when your back is against the wall, I suppose in your world you would class it as racist to condemn certain Arab states for their acts against humanity? //
I am not 'wheeling out the racist cart', and my back is not against any wall!
First of all - my point to retrocop that advising that all Arabs have no morals where money is concerned is, in my view racist, and I called him out for it - he is welcome to challenge my view if he wishes.
As to your supposition that I would class it as racist to condemn Arab states for acts against humanity - that is a stratospheric leap from the point I made, and utterly irrelevant in terms of this discussion.
We are discussing men's' attitudes to rape in the context of time and place - quite how you manage to shoehorn terrorism into that is a mystery to me!
