No I cant to be honest
you mean like running away when under fire ?

it has been done before in other armed forces ( Russian / Soviet in 1945 springs to my mind 0
i thought women had been in battle for years and years
Isis are terrified of female troops according to the female peshmerga.
do you mean if the enemy Is IsIs? I don't think they die a martyr (with all the attendant virgins in heaven) if they're killed by a woman, so this might encourage them to lay down ther weapons and go into grocery isntead.

IS might have an issue with it, I read somewhere that they believe if there're killed by a Woman they don't get to the enjoy the company of the X-number of virgins Islam promises.

What if they are taken prisoner. Isn't there a difference then?

Suddenly silence. Why? Are you thinking it through to the realist's conclusion? Sometimes there is a difference however much our noble principles get in the way.

Either that - or posters might have just given up on the question.

It's very difficult for civilians to imagine what may or may not happen in a hypothetical situation in battle.

The only issue I can imagine is that as a society, we are not used to seeing women held hostage, and that would be difficult for us to manage. There would be an unspoken 'need to protect' which would be greater than if the soldier were male.

Is that the conclusion you've reached?

If only that was so. IS throws homosexual's off roofs. At least male prisoners would be spared the humiliation of ***. The same, sadly can not be assumed to be the case for female prisoners if the current track record of IS is to be believed.

Before I ask a question I always search for similar questions. There were none like mine. So what are you saying?
Should we send female troops out against IS or not?
Yes - fully trained troops are just that, fully trained and able to do the job.

So on top of being PTSD she comes back having being multiply raped and pregnant.

Believe me I believe in principle in practice there is a difference.

PS I didn't want to go into the specifics, I mistakenly believed fellow answebank people would have figured out what I was inferring long before now.
Regardless of gender, no captured prisoner is going to be treated decently by such fanatics. It should make no difference who the enemy are. They don't dictate who they face. High time women were allowed on the front line. It's well known that the female is deadlier than the male. But there's an incentive to avoid hand to hand where possible as I'd suspect strength gives a slight advantage.
I'm sure that the female soldiers have been well trained and are fully aware of what will happen to them if captured.
Psychological training will, I imagine, have also been employed.
Though not physically stronger than their male comrades, they have agility on their side and have, no doubt been trained in martial arts, which women tend to excel at. Plus, as I have found out over the years, sometimes it's better to be smaller in threatening situations. Men don't expect tiny women to attack!

Smaller?????? Have you seen the size of some women? :0)

Colmc54

Always best to actually say what you mean, rather than leaving us to infer.

Sidebar - the person speaking implies and the person listening infers.

But back to your point...female soldiers carry the extra risk of being raped and impregnated by the enemy, but I think they face the far greater risk of being killed and that risk is shared by both male and female members of the armed forces.

Perhaps we should trust the armed forces to train females in the service, and let them manage troops as they see fit, rather than civilians determine the risks?
