Why No Mention Of The Underlying Reason?

Or is immigration a taboo subject.
Mass uncontrolled immigration causes stress on the infrastructure which is what we are now suffering in hospitals, houses and now schools. And many of these immigrants speak no or little English putting additional pressures on teachers.
Having said all of that, I seem to recall class sizes were much bigger to accommodate the baby boomers?

People who come here often have nothing, cant speak English, have no skills we need, bring children who need education (at our expense), and some spend the rest of their lives living off the state.
THAT is the difference.

if retired pensioners in whatever country (my parents lived in france) need to deal with officialdom, then it's up to them to either learn enough of the local language to conduct those tranasctions, or pay to provide their own interpreter. only in this country are the authorities required to bend over backwards for those unable to communicate - this is particularly hard on schools, whose budgets can ill afford "classroom assistants" who are there solely to provide a conduit between teacher and student.
>People who come here often have nothing, cant speak English, have no skills we need
I'm sure that's true. But it would also be true to say "People who come here can speak English and have skills we need and are willing to do jobs that others won't do"
What is meant by 'mass uncontrolled immigration' . Yes I can see immigration from the EU is uncontrolled, as is movement from here to Spain etc. But there are strict controls on non-EU entrants.
Most of these children in schools were born here, so unless we now repatriate families we can't do much about it. Yes, we need to be stricter about those we let in but as we can't do much about EU citizens at the moment and we are committed to taking in refugees and handling asylum seekers I'm not quite sure what we can actually do?

in fact, the reason we now have bigger class sizes has nothing to do with immigration, it is because many schools have opted out of local authority control.
There used to be a limit of class sizes imposed by local authorities (Con, Lab or LibDem) that made sure sizes were no bigger than 30. However, with the advent of Academies, and Free School status, the schools themselves are in charge of their budgets. And it is cheaper for 1 teacher to have a class of 37 rather than 27.

There is currently a baby boom that can partly be attributed to immigration, not denying that.
But the inability of local authorities to ensure that enough schools and classes are available is down to Government policy.
Instead of giving local authorities money to build more schools where they are needed, the Government has instead put huge resources into Free schools, opening many in places where demand for class places is low. The result is that the Government is funding more schools but largely in the wrong places.

Only those who arrive directly from countries where they are in immediate peril. There aren’t many of them and certainly none arriving from mainland Europe fit the bill. The problem is our government tends to allow in all and sundry in (like the chap who walked through the Channel Tunnel). However, that is just a small aspect of the problem.
The main reason that class sizes have increased is plainly and simply that the number of schools has not kept pace with the number of children to be educated. It has nothing to do with Academies and to suggest so is absurd. If the class size in Academies has increased it is because there is insufficient space in the State controlled schools. If there was sufficient space overall the average would have stayed the same and it has not.
The number of required places would be easy to forecast but for immigration. The government has five years notice for each pupil born here. But no government of any persuasion has any chance of forecasting and catering for everybody when our doors are open to 500m people. When Poles were allowed free movement within the EU it was forecast that 13,000 would settle here each year. The first year saw 260,000.
People need to accept that whilst the UK is a member of the EU and whilst it admits as many immigrants as it does from elsewhere services and infrastructure will buckle. That’s precisely what’s happening. Last year some 630,000 people arrived to settle here and that’s precisely why.
