Yet Another Delay In The Hinkley Point C Nuclear Power Station

This is ruddy ludicrous. One day, in the near future, we face coming home from work one day, flicking on the light switch and nothing will happen.
The Government needs to pull its finger out immediately, not let this farce drag on for a few more years. I live in the area when the A and the B stations were constructed, and they were a major source of employment for miles around.
Instead of letting the French build this new station, we should be doing it ourselves.

I absolutely agree Mickey. We need both the leccy and the jobs so lets get on with it, it seems a win-win.

Mikey, one of the factors in this issue is your labour government’s 2008 climate change act, which committed the UK to ridiculous and unachievable carbon emission targets, resulting in the early scrapping of many perfectly serviceable coal power stations, the death of mining in the UK and the blighting of the countryside by millions of unsightly windmills that have no hope of plugging the energy gap. When your lights don’t come on, you can say “thanks Tony and Gordon”.
Boaty....I think the availability of the lecky will be of the first importance rather than its price. We need more generating capacity, and we need it today !
But we should not be allowing such a vital infrastructure project to fall into foreign hands.
We are perfectly capable of building power stations ourselves. If my memory serves me correctly, Britain was in the forefront of the nuclear energy industry right from the start, so why can't we do it now ?

This is what happens when we (as a nation) are not n control of our own energy policy and securoty.
Our future energy supply, and the decision of where and what it is, has been delegated out to a foreign private company.
Their primary motivation is making a profit and pleasing their share holders. So we the British public are held hostage as to whether investment will be made or not
