The only farce is the fact we now have to pay to keep this traiterous trash here...shame they dont dump her back in syria once here sentence is up..
She will probably be given a hard time in prison which will alienate her from British society even more. It will cost the taxpayers a lot to keep her, but she would have been claiming benefits anyway. I'm glad I'm not a judge, but perhaps some form of community work (outside of the Muslim community) would be the best answer.
We should have not let her back into this country permanently.
or how about burning her at the stake -or strap her to the ducking stool and dunking her in the Thames until she denounces her faith.?...She went, came back with the T shirt -came back being the Point. Instead of incarceration she should be used as a propaganda tool, going into communities and schools to tell her 'story'.

Mmmmm … she could tell all the kids that she knew her son would eventually become an IS fighter and why she has no remorse. Not sure that’s a good idea.

Yes; in a pig farm.
Naomi -why did she come back to the UK? To recruit new members (she could have done that from wherever in the world via the net) or because she was disillusioned with IS and had a lucky escape? According to the article she returned to the UK because she released 'she had made a mistake' She seems to me the ideal candidate to lecture young Muslim women on the dangers of being seduced into IS membership. I can't see why she should be expected to be 'remorseful' for being taken in by IS - Regretful yes.
Retrochic - I can see where you are coming from but I think this individual does not fit the bill. Judge Inman stated that she did not show remorse, not the article, and that is reflected in her sentence. If one is deemed to have shown no remorse then her integrity as to her 'making a mistake' is dubious. For me, that lack of remorse tells me that she is not entirely convincing and would not be a suitable candidate to speak to those who could be on the cusp of recruiting.
Remorse (guilty conscience, repentance ) v Regret ( upset over past actions, self-reproach). I suppose on reflection (and a sneaky look at the Thesaurus) there is little difference save perhaps for the legal aspect, that is what she did was illegal. You could feel regret for being taken in by IS (or any thing/group) but no remorse for following it through ( as you were 'conned') yet remorse for putting your child into danger. The Judge's opinion is Subjective, and perhaps the girl does actually now feel remorseful. Whatever the argument, I think that a prison sentence will do more harm than good to this individual.

///According to the article she returned to the UK because she released 'she had made a mistake'///

She would say that, wouldn't she?
Baldric -of course she would say that - So why do you think she was lying and what do you deduce to be the real reason for her coming back to the UK?

A Recruiting Officer and where better to begin than inside?
Just about right, to say this evil piece of garbage was prepared to murder / kill human life. rot in hell.
Baldric -if she was so keen to get 'Inside' Why did she pretend she had been kidnapped and play the 'victim'

BTW -not condoning this women, more playing Devils Advocate.

///more playing Devils Advocate///

Ok, I'm playing total lack of interest then!
Was this the same woman who swore on oath that she never even intended to go to Syria but just happened to meet a nice Turkish boy,as they all do,and happened to form an .....er relationship? Abra kadabra she pops up in Syria with little son brandishing an AK47 in a publicity photo.
This woman was known,in the Western Desert, about 72 years ago as "a sandbag". She couldn't lie straight in bed!!!
She let it slip a bit at the very end of that vid.
From Tony's link - 'you told lie after lie after lie'

She returned after realising her mistake. The jury didn't buy it and the Judge made his feelings clear.

Supposedly in twelve months the known figure of females leaving remains appx 60. Is the message actually getting through or more likely the figure is at least double?

If the answer is 'not sure' how can the authorities really understand and tackle this issue effectively?
I recall hearing evidence from her to the effect that she left a taxi near the Turkish border, walked, with a small child, a bag and a package of nappies, past daesh guards who saw or heard nothing allowing her to make good her escape.
A silent taxi? She's a trained ninja?
Pure fantasy from start to finish, those psychopaths would catch her escaping, use her till she was almost dead then leave her to the wild animals.
Escape nothing, returned by daesh as an enemy within.
