Should Lord Lucans Title Have Died With Him?
Lord Lucan was officially confirmed dead today, and his son can now hold the title. As there is doubt as to Lucans innocense of his Nannys murder and wifes attempted murder, should the title die with him. Why should someone benefit from the title of a discredited peer. Opinions?

Barney....I haven't time to read all the relies on this post but I am unsure why you say that the title should have died ?
Titles are always handed after someones death....why should Lucan be any different.
If there is an issue here, it is why it has taken so long !
But if you are making a case for the complete abolition of all hereditary titles.........well, I am with you there !

/// it has not been proved that he didn't murder his nanny or attempt to kill his wife. ///
Nor has it been proved that he did.
He was never arrested, he was never charged, never put on trial and never found guilty.
I believe the Law states 'Innocent until proven Guilty'
Just another cheap shot from the Left.
///Lord Lucan was officially confirmed dead today/// No he wasn't!

///Lord Lucan is now presumed to be dead, a High Court judge has ruled.///
///He was declared dead in 1999, despite dozens of unverified sightings, but the new ruling gives his son the right to inherit the family title.///
He cannot be 'officially declared dead' as a body has never been found.
