How else can this lady know what he thinks, unless she listens to him? he may well have changed the views to which she objects - he has recently demonstrated the right - and action - of any mature adult - to change his view about something.
Heaven forbid that we are forever bound to hold our first opinion or view on something - when I look back on some of my loudly spouted opinions as a teenager, I blush furiously!

I'm with you on this.
Some people should simply be ignored. There are more important things happening in the world right now.
This is a stance taken by one person, with a particularly extreme viewpoint. The only reason it has made the papers is because of who she is complaining about.
We should remember that there are loons all over the place, and not waste our time giving them the oxygen of publicity.

It's just utterly incredible. He hasn't even said anything racist or transphobic. Quite the opposite in fact. He just recognises that some people do and prefers to challenge such people openly rather than suppress them.
It would, I think, be to the credit of the NUS to reconsider her suitability as their LGBT spokesperson.

It is ironic that equality campaigners such as Greer and Tatchell have become targets. In the past they have campaigned against speakers but now find themselves targets.
Universities should be places open to ideas and where discussion can take place. So christians, muslims, anti immigration campaigners, skeptics etc should not be barred.

What about extremists from both sides of the political spectrum?
Yes - invite them!
As long as they aren't breaking the law by inciting violence, they should be welcomed and challenged.
Remember that story about the parents who protested against the chap from the local mosque coming into talk to their kids about Islam...they're just as misguided as this young woman.
People need to be educated.
And people need to be challenged.
