Certainly not Trump. He's previously said "The right of self-defense doesn't stop at the end of your driveway. That's why I have a concealed carry permit and why tens of millions of Americans do too. That permit should be valid in all 50 states,". He said also said of the Oregon college shootings: "Let me tell you, if you had a couple teachers with guns in that room, you would have been a hell of a lot better off." so I think you can count him out.

After all, they have held on to their core beliefs, despite huge numbers of their fellow countrymen dying from the incredible proliferation of dangerous weapons.

The pro-gun lobby argue that guns are entirety innocent. They've never killed anyone. It's people who kill people.
The same might be said of immigrants. They generally don't go on shooting sprees. It's rabid fanatics who have heard the words of their Prophet(pbuh) twisted by knaves to make a trap for fools, who might do that.
