The following words are not by some far-right spokesperson, but by the cousin of the Rotherham child sex grooming gang.

/// The answer doesn’t just lie in inept officials, paralysed with fear in case they’re accused of racism. And it’s not only down to the corrupt police officers of Rotherham, who turned a blind eye to the crimes — often, it seems, in return for sexual use of the Hussains’ victims. ///

/// The root cause lies in the British Pakistani community itself. The sad truth is that for years some British Pakistanis have deliberately buried their heads in the sand about these predatory grooming gangs. ///

/// More than this, they see any of us who try to tackle this problem as siding with the white ‘enemy’. ///

The words are wise ones and he is right.

I am surprised that you accept that the police involve were corrupt and abusers themselves...

There are bad apples in every barrel and just because they are police officers doesn't make them exempt from exposure or conviction.
I agree AOG.
Very wise words. I would expect and hope that the wider British Pakistani community agree with these words.
But I won't hold my breath.
Wise and accurate words, good for him, but I share NJs doubt.
I am also very doubtful as it would be a step too far for many British Muslims to enter into the politics of condemnation.

We have instead seen a widespread sense of apathy and in some cases a fierce rebuttal of the British legal system and clamouring that the guilty endured farcical trials. These misplaced notions will inevitably result in pockets of sympathy.
