"project Fear" - Part 94
Who believes this garbage?

"Migrants living in shanty camps in northern France will be put on ferries and sent to Britain the day after a vote to leave the EU, a French mayor warned last night."
Those who do believe it might care to ponder over these questions:
1. The “Le Touquet” Agreement was signed between the governments of the UK and France, not between the mayors of Dunkirk and Dover. What makes M. Dhersin and his colleagues along the coast believe they have the authority to rescind such an agreement or that the French government will agree to such action?
2. The Agreement is one between the UK and France. It has nothing to do with either country’s EU membership. If it is hindering France so much why not “tear it up” now? Why wait until the votes to leave the EU?
I won’t go into the practicalities of the Danish ferry company being allowed to land with a vessel full of illegal immigrants or with a major international company risking its licence to operate in the UK by such illegal action.
Is “Project Fear” getting a bit silly?

Without wishing to be labelled a 'scaremonger' - because I am actually marginally in favour of Brexit - can I pose an interesting scenario ... ?
The French force the Ferry Companies to load the immigrants - I can see an order of the type "load these people or you will never dock a ship in France again" working quite well - also remember that the immigrants will actually want to go onto the boat, so won't exactly need to be herded at gunpoint.
The ships then sail across the channel, with no EU country willing to take them back.
Do we say "bog off and sail around until you run out of fuel - then sink for all we care" - I suspect not - we will then be over the proverbial barrel & have to let them dock and disembark?

So the French Government or the mayor of Calais will tell French ferry companies what do do, you know how arsey the french can be, so all they will do is refuse to take them or blockade the port.
Dave.

The practicalities may warrant some attention if the answers to the first two parts of my question suggest that such cavalier action may take place.
However, to address one of the points made: DFDS (the ferry company that the mayor suggested would be used) is not a French ferry company. It is a Danish company with operations in 20 countries and for whom the France:UK traffic is but a small part of their business. I cannot imagine them being bullied into a highly illegal operation at the request of the French government, especially when such action would jeopardise their reputation and their licence to operate in the UK.

Of course its garbage...if we control our borders then they cant get in here...put military on our ferries and stop them being allowed on in the first place, and any french ferries know to be loaded with them are blockaded and not allowed into our ports, and if they do get in, then they are not allowed to dissembark..coming from france ,french soil make it a french problem
but look at it this way...stay in and then turkey gets in, these and god knows how many more like them, and you can bet your last stinking euro on it will flood here via turkey..and so the islamification of "europe" marches on

1) No I don't believe the garbage for reasons already stated elsewhere.
As always, you expressed the case succinctly, NJ.
2) 'Project Fear' always looked silly, it is becoming ridiculous. I am glad, in a way, that they started so early and so OTT. People will become tired of the hysteria in a few weeks - after all, what can they offer that is new?
'France will discover which migrants are paedophiles and ship them over to Dover first' perhaps?!
