Whether or not you are in favour of keeping the English Sunday opening times as they are, should Scottish MPs be allowed to vote for them to stay as they are, even though it doesn't affect them, since Scottish shops are allowed to open longer on a Sunday?

These days my answer is 'No, it doesn't affect them'. For the past decades, in fact all my life, I assumed Scotland was simply a part of us, included in what we (as British) are ( being half-Scottish, it was natural).

Then they forced the idea that they are different, not really an integral part of us. I found that hard to adjust to, it was a real shock.

I am having to adjust to the fact that most of my family are no longer 'family'. It's hard and upsetting, but I am toughening-up. They have forced this division, not me.
// individual MP's voting records are confidential to the house. I wonder which? //

MPs voting records are NOT confidential and have never been
( I agree no records exist of the early votes like around 1300)

Only 54 SNP MPs voted against the measure, naomi. Another 263 MPs voted against the measure and most of those were English. So far from it being rejected”… in the main, by people it wouldn’t affect one iota” the vast majority (about 5:1) of MPs voting against the government were English.

Great post. Now, all we need is a coupon for a basic numeracy course, plus a cardboard coffin with "journalism" on the sides, a few pall bearers and a highly conspicuous route to the Daily Mail's head office.

To deny England and Wales something that Scotland enjoys can only be described as spite and hypocrisy on the part of the SNP.
