It wouldn't stop me going to the Costas if I had planned a trip. Anything like that could happen just about anywhere. No point in worrying about it.

With an average lightning strike death rate of 6 per million people per year I think that wearing rubber boots would be a more sensible precaution than avoiding the Costas.
From what I can make out on the wiki links mention of illegal immigrants av, it takes you way back to the Carthaginians Moors and Berbers. I think the local ferries were sorted long ago as an easy route.
To answer the OP, I don't go on holidays overseas but if I did I would research my destination before making my decision.
I think a suicide bomber would show up on a beach, look out for speedos with a large lump in them.
