Whether you believe the McCanns were involved or not, the thing that struck me most in the days after her disappearance was that Kate always accessorised her jewellery and make up with her outfit for that day, even when jogging. She made time to make sure she looked her best.
What kind of grieving mother who thinks their child is in the hands of a paedophile pays that much attention to her appearance ahead of actually searching for her child, which neither of them did.
They also continued to place the twins in daycare all day every day.
I find them both repulsive and while my feelings are with their daughter, I don't want another penny of my tax money spent on this hideous couple. Sad as it is to say, she's not coming home.
By the way, when they were given a villa, it was reported that the boot door of the car they had hired was open day and night for 5 days at least. This was reported by people living close by. This is the same boot the cadaver dogs alerted in. When asked about it, they said they spilled milk in the car. This is also the same boot where they suggested blood and death scent was probably from leaking blood from meat transported in the car.
I wouldn't want either of them packing my groceries.

What a lot of rubbish on this thread. For starters, they were out looking for her on the night she disappeared and so were their friends. And as soon as it got light they were out again the next morning. Also, it was their families back in England who called the Foreign Office in London, the British Consulate in the Algarve and the British Embassy in Lisbon, requesting assistance. A neighbour emailed Sky News asking for their help in finding missing Madeleine as Gerry thought the police in Portugal weren't taking her disappearance seriously.

I don't believe it, the evidence speaks for itself. What I am saying to you is if you had covered up the fact that there was foul play and then just stopped looking, from an outside perspective do you think any parent would say"yeah they should probably just give up" or do you think any normal parent would think it is odd that they would just accept it if there is still a chance that she could be alive? you do have to think slightly critically about it but it makes sense.

Incidentally, come hell or high water I stick to my morning routine of shower, hair, make-up, dressed and jewellery. I don't think she put her appearance before searching for her child. That's just how some of us start the day every day.

I don't think you are looking at this logically. Quiz has a very good point. I am certain that with all the hell and high water you use for your routine every morning, you will change that to move heaven and earth to find your baby!

Maybe Kate and Gerry should have sat there sobbing in all their scruff proclaiming their innocence like that ghastly couple who burned their children to death. Perhaps they would be believed then.

By Mrs McCann's own words, Madeleine cried for her, the previous night. So who else, in nearby houses heard that? Did anyone make a statement matching that? (I note that I'm having to avoid the word 'testify' because, if I recall correctly, the case never progressed as far as putting witnesses on oath. Please tell me I'm wrong, about that).
