Well I guess a subsidy should be used for what it was intended to subsidise; but not being a member would simplify things a lot, especially since whatever the subsidy was you can bet your last penny it was less than we paid into the EU in the first place.
Yes you couldn't make it up. "You give me a tenner and I'll give you a fiver back, provided you spend it as I tell you". Sound like a good deal to me.

An interesting fact emerged today (well I'm fairly savvy with matters EU and I'd not heard it before today, so it is obviously one of the things they'd like to keep quiet). Apparently there is a rule that nations that run a surplus of more than 6% for three consecutive years face sanctions from the EU. Germany (who else?) has been running a surplus in excess of 6% for many years now. All the euromaniacs have said is "there may be an enquiry in the future."
It goes from bad to worse! truly cannot understand why anyone wants to stay. I haven't heard a single convincing argument.
That's because you have your fingers in your ears naomi :-)
Haha! You think so? ;o)

ok bazile, all yours, fingers out of ears, convince us.
Just imagine, we send £11.4billion and get £5.6billion of our own money back. They keep £5.8billion of what we are handing over, then "fine" us £98million for not spending our money, that has been handed back, in a fashion that suits them. We are sending £350million a week!!!
