Government Climbdown Over Forced Academies Plan In England
http:// www.bbc .co.uk/ news/ed ucation -362275 70
Another humiliating climb down for this Tory Government.
To quote Morgan :::: "This was about the government listening, she said, adding ministers understood top schools should retain the choice on whether to convert"
Oh yes, the Government listened all right, but only to its own Tory Councils who objected, not the rest of us.

jno....I shall ignore the first post on here, but you have made a good point.
What I can't understand is why Morgan is still Education Secretary this evening.
She made a complete horses ass of herself on the Question Time, after the Budget, when the Government made another of its humiliating climb-downs, and I simply can't understand why this woman of so very little ability and talent is still on the Government front bench

Entirely predictable and inevitable.

///Changing all schools to Academies whill not happen.
Not because Labour or the NUT are against it. But because the Conservatives run the most Local authorities, and they are not happy about the change.
When 40% of county councils, 9000 Councillors and many Conservative MPs are against this proposal, then I am sure it will either be watered down, changed significantly, or kicked into the long grass. //
From quite an amusing thread after the climbdown

Gromit....well predicted !
We here in Wales are not having these academies foisted upon us, due to devolution, but it would seem that in England, people should be grateful for Tory MPs and Tory Councilors putting the kibosh on this daft and entirely unnecessary idea.
Now... would you like to have a go at predicting how long Nicky will remain in her post ?
