Because we are daft enough to allow them to.

But it is not only the US who allow them to change their uniforms, we were there first.

Agree with AOG, it's because we allow them to get away with it.
How dare they want to serve the Country, pah.
Mamy, I don't really that they have an altruistic motive to serve the country; I think that they just want to parade around in the uniform...No, hold on: It's not a "uniform" anymore is it, since they wanted it changed.
Do you really think that? Strange the Regiment (as in AOG's Video) hasn't spotted that it's just someone who fancies dressing up.

If you don't accept the Uniform Regulations don't sign up, go be a traffic warden or whatever.
I think also views such as this do a great disservice to many who have served this country well for a long time.
Actually, Mamy, I think he needs a good dressing down:)

It is not about wanting to, or even serving this country, and all credit due to them for that.

But what it is about, is changing the historical regulated uniform, and that should not be allowed to happen for a select few.
ANOTHEOLDGIT, how do you know the soldier in your video is not British?
I wonder what would happen if he was a construction worker and attempted to get on the job site without the uniformly, mandatory, and regulatory hard-hat?
Do you think the soldiers go on the battlefield wearing bearskins?

Who doubted that he was not?

Perhaps the Foreign reference by TTT was because some do not associate themselves with being British, or even American in TTT's link.

I couldn't careless if he was born in the far off Punjab or in site of Windsor Castle, if he wishes to join the British Army he should be prepared to wear one of it's full traditional uniforms.

When they're on guard duty they're on the "job site", and should be UNIFORMLY attired.
Turban-wearing Sikhs working on construction sites have been exempt from having to wear hard hats since 1989. However, under a quirk of law this exemption has not covered other sectors where hard hats are required safety wear.
The Department for Work & Pensions is now extending the exemption, giving Sikhs the right to choose not to wear head protection in the majority of workplaces. A new clause in the Deregulation Bill 2015 extends the existing exemption in the Employment Act.
Should an individual suffer injuries as a consequence of not wearing head protection, employers will be legally protected through the extension of limited liability.
Really? That is absolutely ridiculous! I should look up whether our Ministry of Labour has the same policy.

Are you for real?

They once did, but now it is their ceremonial uniform, just as they also have a dress uniform and also a 'fatigue' uniform.

Thinking about it however, you mentioned the 'battlefield' (I think they call it a combat area these days), I wonder then if they wear a metal turban?
The link says he //was forced to shave off his hair and beard to join the US Army//. That's not 'force'. It's a requirement. He didn't have to join.
The Sikhs wore their turbans as part of their uniform when they fought with us in World War 11 so why not in peacetime?
