What makes a low intelligence average actress who would not have seen the light of day if it wasn't for her parents the idea that she has any wisdom to impart to us poor plebs?

She was very rational in her approach- basic premise was that hysterical reactions should be avoided and she criticised her own county in this. She was also fair in arguing that people with no claim to stay in the West should be repatriated.
Despite all this, she failed to understand the 'full-up' feeling that we and other European countries have. She seems to be an intelligent lady - but living a cloistered life.

The nuts and bolts of Ms Jolie's spiel is that she thinks more advanced nations should take in more refugees than ever. The first thing that came to my mind when the Government announced they would be admitting 1000s of lone child refugees from places like Syria is how long before all their relatives come out of the woodwork demanding to be reunited with their children in the UK? All expecting housing and financial support. Also how much research will be done to ensure they are genuinely unaccompanied children. My experience says that some will lie about there age to gain entry to the UK. I know a man who had attended school in London and then went back to his home country. He tried to regain a visa to return to the UK as a minor but was caught out because he declared on his application that he had attended school in London and finished his formal secondary education 3 years previously, therefore admitting he was an adult. Needless to say he was refused entry. I've know of people applying for asylum as minors and trying to get school places when they have grey hair and beards. I'm all for genuine refugees but many are taking the ***.
It isn't so much as having a right to speak out - rather when someone reaches UN Ambassador/Special Envoy level one is invited to attend events which offer the chance to speak out, more so than any of us would be.
As Naomi points out and I agree, I have a choice to listen or ignore, absorb or disagree with Angelina's words as I see fit.

One would need more detail on what she actually said in order to give an opinion on it. The race for the bottom statement aside, which is unclear, comments regarding there being no surprise individuals would desire to be economic migrants where there seems to be a chance, and growing concern about EU coutries being hamstrung in attempts to secure their borders, are simply stating the obvious.
