It wouldn't be as easy to breach security in Paris as it was in Sinai so it's probably too early o think there's terrorist involvement. But if the worst comes it's a tragedy for the families, whatever the cause.
just out of curiosity, are the crew subject to the same scrutiny as the passengers and their luggage?

As Sandy says, a tragedy for the families.
I would think so Alba....

Paris to Cairo doesn't sound good....
'Breaking' - a bit of an unfortunate pre-descriptor....
latest on radio says it went into the sea ! brought down ???
sounds like a bomb or a missile.
some ship captain has reported seeing a flame....
an expert on tv reckons it was a 'catastrophic event' and it would seem that it has come down in the deepest part of the Med.
Agree with ummmm - Paris to Cairo....... Tragic in any case x
// so it's probably too early o think there's terrorist involvement. //

no I am thinking of terrorist involvement
I have no problems conceiving muslims butchering other muslims and a few christians getting in the way

egyptair is pretty crap by the way
it used to be misr-air ( Misr is arabic for Egypt ) and this was easily mispronounced as misery-air
// As Sandy says, a tragedy for the families.//

and not exactly fun for the people on board ....
French PM says 'nothing can be ruled out'

The Egyptians will definately rule out terrorism.

Will we get to know the truth?
I'm finding it difficult to believe anyone in the current climate.
Any hint of terrorism will be ruled out - until at least after the EU election.

Even then dont hold your breath for the truth.

This plane was at 37,000 feet and cruising. Given there are something like 7000 of these aircraft and the pilot gave no mayday, although possible, it is highly unlikely to be a plane failure.
It is a tragedy whatever the cause. Small positive that the black boxes will probably be easily retrievable from the Med even if it is in deep water. Not good for Red Sea tourism again.
The Sun has posted on Facebook that it's being considered a terrorist attack
It looks increasingly like a terrorist attack.
//It wouldn't be as easy to breach security in Paris as it was in Sinai//

If it was a bomb, I suspect the perpetrator is working flight side at Charles de Gaulle.

//One weak point identified in recent years has been the large number of flight-side workers who come from high-immigrant areas of the Paris suburbs. Last year there was a security review of the 86,000 workers with authorisation to go flight-side. More than 60 had their authorisation withdrawn because of fears of Islamic radicalisation.//

… but we’ll have to wait and see.
The awful truth here is that it is impossible to make any form of public transport 100% safe. There are 10,000 of planes in the air at any one time, and not all airports are as safe as ones are here in Europe. Trains are even worse.
Charles de Gaulle is here 'safe' in Europe mikey???
