Yeah read it aog. I have just flagged it up for 3T in case he has missed the BBC advertising the programme. You know in case he has blinked in the last couple of weeks.
There is no skin colour or ethnic requirement to be a cockney, you just have to be born within the sound of Bow Bells. So there are as many cockneys as ever, just that fewer of them have white skin!
No mention of skin colour here, just the requirement to be born in London and within the sound of Bow Bells.

Hasn’t the East End always had a high immigrant population because of the docks?
Is Newham not outwith the true Cockney area?
A miracle of modern technology! You can be born ANYWHERE and be a cockney!

The true 'cockney' has not existed for generations!!
Eastenders have been moving out of the area for decades...at least since the 1950s. They move to Barking, Leigh on Sea, Dagenham, Loughton etc. I used to work in Aldgate East, and most of the people in the company used to live in the East End, but when they move up the housing market and can afford bigger mortgages and higher commuting costs, they 'upscale' and go where they can get more of their money.

Parts of the London boroughs of Newham and Waltham Forest, formerly in an area of Essex known as 'London over the border', are sometimes considered to be in the East End. However, the River Lea is usually considered to be the eastern boundary of the East End
Where does the West End finish and the East End start?

It's called diverting, some on here are past masters at it.
I agree it will be an interesting watch and have made a note so I don't miss it.

As the link says -Newham has been shaped by immigration for generations, as more people move in and others move out, the imbalance has happened.

//Where does the West End finish and the East End start? //

East is East and West is West and ne'er the twain shall meet.
LOL. I just wondered if there was a geographical dividing line, not being a Londoner.

Interesting to note that some are happy to simply let the communities, traditions and proud culture of this land, pass into oblivion.
It is but people can't be forced to stay if they want to move out can they.
