Now how did I know you would agree with this sort of discrimination?
I think due to their proportion in what is after all a predominantly white country, black and Asians (and after all that is what they really mean when they say ethnic minorities, in fact anyone with not a white skin colour). are over represented.

You introduced the gay argument ie White straight males, (not as gays are bent of course) plus gay female writers.
So while we are on that subject, we have only two chat shows on TV and both are hosted by gay males, is that fair?
Seeing that there is also a fair representation of gays in the TV soap operas and I presume some of those acting those roles are not really gay, I ask you is it wrong for a straight actor to take a gay role, just as it is wrong for a white person to take a black role?

Steady on; that's the worst case scenario. Every chance that they could be average or better than average (assume that any really good ones would be hit novelists in their own right, having their works adapted for television by… hmm, can't say lesser mortals… maybe a separate thread: why do some writers adapt things for the screen, rather than write their own works?
//or anybody wants them //
A trainee scheme with no actual vacancy at the end is just false promise, innit?
//or wants to be one.//
Ah. The ambition aspect. Can't help it if they want to be lawyers, accountants, or doctors. That's more ambition than I ever had, when I was a kid. If I'd expressed aspirations like those, out aloud, they'd have told me not to be such a big-head.
