The second was posted on Friday. So the current situation would seem to say that he has now changed his mind ( again )
{In letter, Mr Ashley writes: "After much reflection over the last 48 hours, I have concluded that a lengthy legal battle would be of no benefit to either of us.
"It would no doubt lead to further unwarranted accusations that I am being secretive, whereas in fact I have been open and honest at every stage of this process."
Mr Ashley added that he would now appear "in order to defend the good name of Sports Direct on behalf of all the great people who work here}

I really don't why why they (the "accused") or anybody else worries.
Being "dragged" before a Commons committee is no big deal.The committe has no powers of prosecution or no sanctions to invoke. In fact, apart from making the MPs feel important (and probably providing them with a small stipend) as far as this sort of thing goes the committees serve no useful purpose whatsoever.

A small Mea Culpa from Mr Ashley it would seem, for which we must be truly grateful I suppose.

Yes Mikey, but I'd far rather see him face prosecution for failing to pay the minimum wage (if indeed that's what he's done). This "Commons Select Committee" is a farce. The Committee was designed to investigate the workings of government departments, not to examine the misdemeanours of individuals.
I must say, and I'm not usually a fan of people who took advantage of the climate Labour created to make a fortune, the more I listen to that hearing, the more I think, Ashley hit them out of the park.
They seemed taken aback by a straight talking man giving straightforward answers. Admit it, mikey, even you were impressed, weren't you?

NJ....I watched the whole procedure on the Telly last night, and handsome is,
as handsome does as far as I am concerned.
Ashley gave some very honest and open answers to the questions that he was asked. He freely admitted that a lot of what has been going on at Sports Direct was and is wrong......an unusual admission of guilt by someone of his ilk. Mea Culpa indeed.
I don't agree with you about these Committees....they have become a very important part of the business of Parliament. I am suggesting that if he hadn't have been asked to appear before the Committee, he may not have been as open and honest. Of course, the media have been very assiduous in the investigations of Sports Direct as well ( the BBC or CH4...I am not sure which)
Its going to be very interesting to see how Green handles himself when he appears before the Committee today......I wonder if he will be half as open and honest as Mike Ashley !

Right, here's the running order for the parliamentary committee hearing on BHS, which will take evidence from the bosses and takeover teams of the collapsed chain - including Dominic Chappell who bought the company from Sir Philip Green.
At 09:00 the MPs will hear from Darren Topp, chief executive of BHS, and Richard Price, former chief executive of the chain. Mark Tasker, Eddie Paladorio and Stephen Bourne, all from Mr Chappell's Retail Acquisitions consortium, are at 10:15. Dominic Chappell then appears at 11:00.
