Since immigration is top of the list of concerns on the EU referendum vote, is UKIP wrong to highlight it in such a way on their Brexit campaign poster?

Svejk, I find this utterly, utterly astonishing. Really I do. For all anyone knows that bunch of men in the picture could be half of ISIS walking into Europe - and here are we expected to welcome them with open arms. I'm practically lost for words - but not quite. ;o)
The UK have been holding secret talks with the EU and Turkey to allow visa-free travel to holders of 'special passports'. One and a half million Turks currently hold them. (to be announced at the end of June, for some strange reason)
Furthermore, if, as Cameron recently claimed, Turkey aren't going to join the EU before the year 3,000 why have we given them 2 billion to speed their accession. Do you think we should ask for our money back or do you think Cameron might be lying to you again?
Cameron telling porkies? Wash your mouth out, perish the thought!!!
// Turkey aren't going to join the EU before the year 3,000 why have we given them 2 billion to speed their accession. //

We haven't.

Part of our fixed EU contribution goes into the Assession fund. There are 5 Assession countries, not just Turkey. Our portion from our contribution is to be taken annually up to 2020 which will be £169.5 miliion a year. That is not new additional money, it is just how part of our subs are being allocated. And that comes to £1.2Billion in 4 years time. Other EU members' payments also go into the Assession fund.

The EU is paying Turkey to keep migrants from crossing into The EU. Our portion of the payment comes to £640million. It is nothing to do with Turkey's possible Assession.

"Gromit, do you really think all the people in those pictures are genuine refugees? Incredible!! " - Naomi, they've all been over to Gromit's Tibetan tea shop in Islington for a chin wag, that's how he knows them all personally.
Haha and mikey thinks that the pictures are incendiary, what he means is that they are far too indicative of what is happening. So lets get this right. There are millions of able bodied young men fleeing conflict zones and seeking safe sanctuary. They leave behind the old, the children, their womenfolk, the sick and injured and the Country that they will profess to love and cherish once ensconced in the EU. Cowards then, who will find plenty of succour and support amongst our own. Do they intend to return to their homelands and work to heal the scars of conflict or travel to the EU and cause more?
I find if I look at the picture then close my eyes and sing a happy song in my head, everything is fine again.
What is the favourite song of the welcoming committee in denial?
From the BBC, gromit.
///Turkey, the largest of the seven countries, will receive a total of €4.5bn over the seven year period. Albania will receive €649m.///

^To aid their accession. Lot of money to spend on something that isn't going to happen. Or are the BBC lying as well?

At one time, in the days of Enver Hoxha, Albania made North Korea look positively progressive.
The £3 billion we pay them to pretend to stop the flow of immigrants is a completely different tranche of money. You aren't talking to gullible left wingers all the time on this site, gromit.
I find it hard to argue with Togo's post and the sentiments of these Syrian women.

Svejk,

// Reality check verdict: Over a seven year period, £1.2bn of the UK's contributions to the EU Budget will go to seven candidate states. The UK committed another £250m towards helping Turkey support Syrian refugees for two years and might commit more in the future. //

And that is exactly what I said 18:52
For Funks Sake, gromit, you came out with a load of obfuscation. Anyone who didn't know you better would think the only money we pay is to stop the immigrants coming. Why mention it when it has nothing to do with what we're talking about.
Why on earth would the EU pay Turkey £4.5 billion to ease their accession if they had no plans to admit them. (soon)

Anyway, I'm sick to 'king death of reading the utter stupidity that comes out of you Remainers. Hope you win, just so you all get what's going to come to you. I'll be OK.
The poster is fine. It only sparked a row because showing the situation in such a dramatic way rattled those hoping to hide border control issues out of sight of the still undecided.
Svejk,
You claimed we have given £2billion for Turkey's Assession. That is not true.

We will have given £1.2billon by 2020 to the Assession fund which includes 6 other countries as well as Turkey.

The Brexit campaigners include £640million we are giving to Turkey to stop refugees reaching the EU. That is how £1.2billlion suddenly becomes £2billion (even though it adds up to £1.8billion).

If cannot understand the simple facts, maybe it might sink in if you let the Leave people explain it to you...

Right. My apologies. It's only £1,200,000,000. A mere trifle.
My point stands. Shouldn't we ask for it back as we appear to have no intention of letting them join.
The more I see of left wing people on this site, the more I realise I've won the lottery of life.
We haven't given them £1.2billion. That was to be in seven installments of £169million we have maybe paid 2. Turkey was one of 7 accession countries, so what we have paid so far needs to be divided by 7. So the true figure to date is about £48million. A Bit of a difference from the £2billion you stated.
