Image Rights..

I have worked for a security company for the past 4 years and when I joined they put a picture of me and a couple of colleagues on their main website for advertising, they also put the pictures on social media and also had company flyers done with my picture on. Now were do they stand legally with this? there is nothing in my contract nor did i give my consent. So the question is were do I stand legally in regards to pursuing legal action for damages?

Try consulting a solicitor. I can predict two things: s/he will ask you to calculate how much financial loss you have suffered; s/he will ask you for a large sum of money to start proceedings. Such as £10,000.
Could all get a teeeeeeeeeeensy bit expensive.

The person who took the photo owns the rights to it and can do whatever they like with it, unless it is obscene.

As long as the photographer had permission to take the photos from your company they own the rights and you can do nothing about it.
In any case to claim damages you need to be able to prove that you have suffered a loss as a result of the action the company took.

The only way you could get money for 'your image' would be if you were a model and were hired to pose for the photos. I do not think that was what happened

From what I can gather the photos have been out there for the past 4 years. What have you done to get them removed over that time? Have 'they' refused to remove them when you asked/ demanded that they did? I would think that if you have not bothered then you cannot suddenly claim that you are distressed by them. If you have been waging a battle to get your image removed for the past 4 years then perhaps you have a case regarding your image being used against your will.
