English is the common world language, so he is being a pompous, outraged French Maire. Nothing new in that. :)

^^^ French is a lovely, but complex and impracticable language. Far easier for normal use is English. At a basic, communicative, level English is quite straightforward. Just not having the gender difference in nouns and the following complexities of adverb agreement makes it quicker, simpler and easier to learn.

I mean to say 'La prostate' and 'Le vagine', honestly! Look them up if you need to. :)
