I know it's not even been a week and moods may calm down with time, but there is plenty of reason to believe that the referendum on Thursday changed moods in Scotland. I know I'm not the only person who voted firmly "No" two years ago but is now at least open to the idea of independence.

I speak for the majority that voted in 2014 Jim..without a central bank..no currency of our own..no manufacturing industry..only revenue from dwindling oil reserves..fishing rights limited..no steel ..no coal..no shipbuilding..large financial houses threatening to leave..no whisky...what's changed ?? MORE folk voted to stay united than opposed Brexit....
I'd not call it leadership qualities. By not accepting the UK result and trying to use it as an excuse to push her usual agenda she shows herself up.
But let her call for her referendum if she thinks circumstances since the very recent last one on the same subject will go down well with the people, and change the previous result, now that the Scottish economic situation is better understood. She presumably thinks her attitude and behaviour of late will have endeared her to the Scottish people and they will back her even more than last time.

// Wales have already been highly gifted with EU development funds!! Didn't stop them showing where their loyalty lies though did it.?//
cornwall voted massively to leave altho massively dependent on EU money.
and so they demanded that the 'lost' ( but we all know there is nothing lost in Brexit only paradise on earth ) ... lost revenues/grants/incomes/kickbacks are made up by London !
Breath-taking ......

A point of interest (perhaps)
Total Scottish electorate. c.4million.
^For that, they have 65 SNP mp's. 100+mp's in other parties
150? smp's or whatever they call themselves in the Scottish Parliament.
Contrast that with UKIP. 4million votes= 1 mp
Not complaining, you understand. Just thought it interesting.

That may be because the Scots are tempted to send MPs to the UK parliament who concentrate on the advantages they can get for Scotland rather than the UK ?
That emphasis is ok for the Scottish assembly but hardly appropriate for a UK parliament.
UKIP (and indeed all the larger parties) aren't about just one part UK location and what it can do for the people there. It is trying to do what it believes is is best for the whole of the UK; so it has no unfair advantage over other parties. It has to get it's MPs from persuading the voters in each constituency by it's UK policies alone. That is how it should be, although it would be better if parties didn't exist at all, but traditional, incumbent to the constituency, parties are hard to shift.
That's not to say a representative shouldn't bear in mind the needs of those they represent but it needs to be kept in proportion to the job they are elected to do, which is run the whole kingdom not grab preferential treatment for their locals.
