Has a democratically elected leader ever been so vilified by his own party? I'll never forgive Labour for making me have sympathy for a Labour leader! I just hope he goes on to re win the leadership.

Democracy means that people entitled to vote get to choose, and people who don't like the prospect are not entitled to tinker with the voting system to get a different result - that's simply not how it works.

TTT - //....yes Andy, but apparently the NEC have tampered with the election rules to exclude the £3 ers. //
If that is true, then that is wrong.
The same rules apply across the board - if your electoral system allows malcontents to swing a decision by joining the party and getting a vote, then mandate to change the system - but that is not the same as fiddling with it to prevent the same thing happening, that is against the principles of the democratic process.

J C spoke at the Durham Miners' gala, which I went to a couple of weeks ago. He was very articulate and spoke well, at the end he was given a well deserved round of appreciation.I was impressed by him .
My own view is that he is a principled, intelligent man being vilified by his own peers, and when loyalty is jettisoned as in this case, I despair.

The old system was no less arbitrary than the current one. Both are ridiculous.
You aren't allowed to vote if you are a recent member but you CAN vote if you pay £25 in the next couple of days as a registered supporter.
And even if Corbyn doesn't win it looks like it will be a nobody called Owen Smith

"TTT...that isn't really fair is it ?"
- slightly tongue in cheek mikey, brought on by my horror at the skulduggary that is occurring. You must be embarrassed surely.
"Weren't you one of the Tory voters from May 2015, that now says that dave wasn't to be trusted ? " - on the EU certainly, I don't trust any remainiacs on that subject.
