Do the French border police really think that the recent terrorists came from the UK. Or is this engineered delay just another example of frog truculence?
// Highways England said that “French border police at the Port of Dover and Eurotunnel continue to follow French government requirements to deliver heightened security checks” following recent attacks, the Press Association reports.
P&O Ferries tweeted: “Heightened security check at French Border Control in Dover due to events in France, we’ll get you on your way as soon as you check in.”//
If this is true then the french are not interested in security. " At one stage only one French officer was available to check passengers on hundreds of coaches, resulting in each coach taking 40 minutes to process, said the council." BBC News

It seems to me that the French are damned if they do and damned if they don't. With all that has happened recently, you can hardly blame them for stepping up security. According the BBC, there was only 1 French official on duty. But apparently we are now helping, although why that wasn't done yesterday is beyond me.
It seemed to me that the problem was the other way round. Security checks still have to take place, but French security personnel were being largely diverted elsewhere, leaving the border understaffed. Obviously this isn't acceptable and I feel sad for those trapped in the huge queues, but on the other hand my sympathies are somewhat more with the people of Nice, or Munich, etc, than inconvenienced travellers.
might be deliberate, however there are known problems in Britain so if you can be 100% certain that there are no guns or explosives being smuggled from the UK to France via the channel ports then the security checks are a waste of time, but if a ferry was full [as they are now ]and was targeted and sank with the massive loss of lives that would occur what would you rather have delays ? or take the risk,I for one would rather the delays
If the French really wanted to lock down France then surely the place to start is by shutting down Schengen? Whilst I appreciate the UK does harbour terrorists allowing people free unchecked movement around Europe (remember they came from Bruxelles) especially given Merkle has allowed Millions in unchecked would be a good start.
It should also be considered that France should get its own house in order, many of the atrocities are home grown too.
