Trump was stupid for exciting a totally unnecessary controversy. Why rise to Clinton's bait and mention the mother?

Instead, why not: "I mourn the loss of this loyal American. My policies on immigration are designed to protect all Americans, Christian, Muslim or other, from those who wish us harm. Check the preventable disaster at St. Bernadino.".

My word on the "dumb" mum: she's repeating the usual spin (i.e. blatant lies) when she says the Koran and Islam don't explicitly sanction the aims and at least some of the methods of the terrorists. Her speech was written by pro-Islamist apologists.

I think you are not only being very rude to Mr Trump, but you are also being very rude to the American people.

Informed sources claim that if there was a vote tomorrow, he would win hands down. Of course, a lot can happen between now and November, but it looks like he will be way ahead.
It's a bit like the 'outers' for Brexit, many of them prior to the vote didn't say how they were intending to vote, and many who will vote for Trump are just remaining quiet.

If the Democrats did actually choreograph this situation, it has certainly backfired against them. Anyway, it will knock a lot of fence-sitters firmly into the Trump camp, and certainly firmly entrench those who are already there.

Trump has caught everyone by surprise, across politics. I still don't think he will carry that surprise all the way to the White House but for all that he couldn't have asked for a better opposition, and there will never be a better chance for someone nominally outside normal politics to win through.

Even this, which should be a scandal -- insulting or demeaning a mother's grief, for her son who died trying to defend America, should be a campaign-killer for anyone else. Of course it won't be for Trump, whose success continues to defy normal political rules.
