All that happens is the boats pick up the migrants for the sea then bring them to the UK, never having to return to where they came from. If these people find out they have a good chance of getting rescued, even more will try their luck. It should be made plain that any getting picked up will immediately be sent back without setting foot in the UK at all.

Three does seem rather inadequate, despite the radar stations, or whatever, on the coast. I've no expertise in how many are needed, but it feels like another eight would help cover the stretch better. Meanwhile are there no existing boats that can be pressed into service as a stop-gap until the new dedicated patrol ones arrive ?

We have nearly 8,000 miles of coastline , to patrol it all 24 / 7 / 365 is going to need several hundred patrol boats and thousands of crew.
The suggestion that we should position soldiers along the entire coast with orders to shoot on sight anyone who looks as though they may be attempting to land and also looks 'a bit foreign' is beyond absurd !

Old_Gezzer Inflatable rubber / canvas boats are virtually invisible to any form of radar. Radar only works on metal craft. Even wooden craft like private sail boats need a radar reflector to be visible on radar, obviously no one is going to put a radar reflector on a 'illegal' boat!

It's needed without a doubt, they have tried once & got caught, there are plenty of coves around the UK that's available for Landing, or would the money be better spent on D.C. honours for his crownies?

A larger boat / ship sails in international waters and launches an inflatable at night to a deserted stretch of beach. There are reports of unidentified landings on both North Wales and Remote Scottish coast lines.
