The reality it is an awful survey. To start with only 1500 is extrapolated to give these figures. Second there appears to be no time limit, we all know things even 10 years ago were not as they should be so including old cases is just done to manipulate the figures.
Then we get to the 'crimes' There is a world of difference between sexually groping someone and a 'dirty'joke, but here they are all bunched under one headline which really demeans the serious cases; as this whole survey does.
I have been sexually 'harassed' in the workplace by women including groping when I worked in an all women group, of course I said nothing. only last week to women put their hand on my shoulder at work, oh horror of horrors!
The TUC need to get their act together and really tackle the serious cases not bury them in headline grabbing rubbish.

I have to agree with a few who have gone before here, some women are their own worst enemies in this and seem to make issues where none exist.
When the opposites sexes work closely together there will be differences - fussing about tiny points detracts from what is sometimes a real problem.
'Cry Wolf' syndrome.

Ms Francis O'Grady head of the TUC was aided in the collation of the "figures" by Laura Bates the leading light in the "Everyday Sexism Project" and "Women under Siege". When these findings are naturally given the full attention, that they will undoubtedly deserve, by the TUC and other pressure groups Laura Bates will be the "expert" required to head the enquiry and further research. It will subsequently be announced that the figures are much worse something like 75% perhaps, and more funding and a bigger dedicated team required to fashion a strategy to take the enquiry forward. Victims of "historic" abuse be invited (all expenses paid) to come forward with a view to compensation schemes being initiated ( taxpayer funded). Soon millions of women and twenty two men will be in line for payouts when the 5 year project is now extended indefinitely to take into account possible future abuse. Dame Laura Bates announces that she is to purchase a further 2 properties in Central London to cut down on the commute from Southern France from her main residence (a vineyard with chateau). Job done large ones all round.

/// I remember that AOG! A couple of years ago? You sounded quite hurt by it at the
time. ///
I can't ever remember sounding hurt Ed, astounded maybe that an elderly gentleman isn't safe any more to shop in our supermarkets, without being sexually harassed by a young female.
And before anyone asks, she was a white English female, and we both exchanged a smile, although she remarked that she just could not resist it.
Ah well, I don't know what it is, but it seems I must just expect this kind of thing. :0)

/// I think there was a bit of hurt pride in there somewhere AOG. It was a public bum-pinching if I remember correctly! ///
My!!! you do keep a check on me Ed :0)
I don't know about 'hurt pride' Ed, but I think at the time I remarked on what the outcome would have been if I had chosen to do the same to a female.
