What's the point of banning a garment if it means imposing *your* idea of what is right on someone? Then you are the same as the groups you condemn.

Quite how you can make such assertion is a mystery to me TWR.
That's the problem. If all really do have choice then a ban is undesirable in a free society; but if you believe some are pressurised into wearing something whether they like it or not, a ban may be the only realistic option available.

However the right to see the identity of those around you trumps a right to wear what you wish IMO.

Surely the right thing to do would be for Islamic women to wear the Burka in private but pass a law to make it illegal to wear it in public because of the security threat.
