now feel pleased with themselves, more than can be said for his unfortunate victim now feels, I'm sure?

What I don't understand is why this monster has been granted bail until sentencing in September?

He is facing 19 years in jail, do they expect him to be around come September?

Just a correction to your OP - he is facing a sentence that ranges from community service to 19 years imprisonment, depending on the severity.

Make no mistake, sexual assault by penetration can be as physically and psychologically damaging as the most horrendous rape but it is not always, which is why there is such wide range of sentencing.
