This is from a club who originally refused to to honour the victims of the Birmingham pub bombings.

Times change and the club would doubtless mark the passing of the victims of a similar event to the Birmingham Pub Bombings.

Their applause was purely a collective display of remembering a footballer and talent whose life went out of control and ended in an early death.

Disappointed you can't see that.

It matters not one iota how good a footballer he was, if he had been an electrician, a plumber or even a Lord, what he was alleged to have done, doesn't warrant respect.

What the supporters were doing was honouring the memory of a former club player who appeared to be a popular member of the team.

Yes the bombing was, but this is about the club refusing to hold a minute’s silence to mark the 40th anniversary of the atrocity.

Yes, I have followed hc's links and realised that.

I can't see quite why AV initially declined to mark the 40th anniversary but I read that they relented and it was appreciated by the families of those killed.

It still doesn't really compare to the marking of Atkinson's death, though.
