I know I will be derided for this and that I have said it before. I would not be surprised if despite all denials that itv can happen, once we complete A50 the French send the lot to the nearest place that is outside the EU!! You do not need me to tell you where that is!
There is very strong and growing opinion in France that they should do exactly that!. Public opinion in France is getting more and more 'Anti UK' and sending us all the immigrants that are so desperate to get here would be very popular with a lot of the French voters and solve a problem at a stroke.

Oh, Eddie. And there’s me thinking that, along with most of the “experts” who warned of Armageddon pre-referendum and who are now changing their view, that you’d got over your Brexit blues.
“… once we complete A50 the French send the lot to the nearest place that is outside the EU!! You do not need me to tell you where that is!”
I certainly don’t. If you’re talking about the nearest non-EU country to France they will be going to Switzerland or Andorra, then. Both share a land border with France. Switzerland is a Schengen country with an open border with France. Dead easy to just bag them up and ship down to Geneva. If you’re going to make it more complicated by involving a sea crossing then you must be thinking of the Channel Islands. But maybe you mean the closest non-EU destination to Calais? So the UK it is then. Just how do you suppose they will “send” them here? Do you expect the Port of Dover to just allow a half dozen ferries to berth and let them all off?
No, far easier to take them over the non-existent border to Switzerland. Project Fear is gradually unravelling and your prediction will prove just as reliable as most of the rest of it.

JD: "The simplest solution would be to declare an amnesty, allow them all to come to the UK, transport and settle them in the north of Scotland (plenty of room), and let Ms Sturgeon worry about the rest. " - Good plan but lets wait until Scottish independence shall we and we have built the border.
Eddie, yes France could try and send them the the nearest non EU country, that would be Switzerland then, great idea.
